Labor Day

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

Labor Day is one of those interesting holiday’s that no one really understands how to celebrate.  We have plenty of holidays that fall into this category.  It’s kind of ironic to me that we celebrate our labors by taking the day off from labor.

I’ll be utlizing the time this year to clean the house.  We’ve got clutter and it’s time to get rid of it.

How will you be spending your time on Labor Day?  I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Shameless plug alert!!!

If you like my blog and the fact that I speak my mind, then head on over to GrassrootsPA and vote for me in the GrassrootsPA Survivor Series.  I didn’t put myself on the list, but since I’m up there, I’d like to atleast get past the first round.

All’s quiet on the Cumberland front

Friday, April 6th, 2007

You can hear the grasshoppers chirp here in Cumberland County when it comes to politics.  People have been talking about Easter and Holy Week instead of politics - that’s a good thing in my personal opinion.  Too many times those of us in the political realm get so wrapped up in politics.  We forget that there are more important things in life than politics.  In fact there are lot of things that are more important than politics.  That’s probably why the “average” non-political person only thinks about politics for seven minutes per week.  I can’t blame them frankly.  Too much of politics has become way to negative - one party manuvering here or there on an issue.  One party trying to criminalize the other just so the first party can gain power.  One group demonizing another.  People so power hungry they will sell their soul and principles.  People who play politics when all they care about is the money.

Let’s put all that aside this Holy weekend.  Have a great Easter!

My Personal Update

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

To my readers:

There are a variety of readers that visit my site on a daily basis.  You typically come to see what crazy things I have to say about politics, in what ways I can bash the establishment, and what ways I promote reform within our state government and the Republican Party.

Well, as of today, April 1, I’ve decided that enough is enough.  From now on I am no longer going to be fighting the establishment.  In fact, I’ll be changing the name of the blog to www.courageoftheestablishment.com.  If you can’t beat them, then join them, that’s what I say. My first act of penance back into the Republican establishment fold will be to sign up to be a team captain for the Arlen Specter re-election campaign.  I am personally very excited about this opportunity since it will be a real opportunity to test how well I have re-educated myself into being a “good” Republican.

I’ll have more, just stay tuned.

300

Monday, March 12th, 2007

I just came back from seeing the movie 300.  What an awesome movie.  I put it in the same classification as Gladiator, The Patriot, and Braveheart - courage films.  This is a story about courage, about being outnumbered and yet facing the opposition anyway.  It’s easy to go along with the majority - it’s safe.  It take courage though to not only face the opposition, but to fight it until the end.

My update

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

It’s been about a week since I posted on this blog.  Some of you who read this know why, and other don’t.  I’m now working on a campaign.  You’ll hear more about that as needed.  I’m excited about the campaign and feel confident about my candidate’s chances.  In fact, I feel more confident about this race, than just about any other race I have been involved in.

In unrelated matters, I got an iPod shuffle.  I promised myself I would get one when I got two clients in one week.  Well that happened last week - I actually got four clients last week.  It was a great week.  I’ve had some fun playing around with the iPod.  I feel like I’ve joined the 21st century.  I’ve used an iPod once before - I ran with one during the Chicago marathon last year and loved it.  I can’t wait to use it on another run or in another race.

The baby is here finally - after 13 days overdue.  He was born on Friday, 2/2/07 at 2:18 pm.  8 lbs 3 oz, and 20.5 inches long.  the delivery went great and everyone is healthy and at home.  The neatest thing that happened for me was that I got to help deliver little Grant.  I’m taking a few more days off from blogging, but I’ll be back to full time blogging next week.

Time off…just for a couple of days

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I’m taking a little time off from blogging…just for a few days anyway.  My wife is due with our third child.  In fact, her due date was Jan. 20th.  That’s right 11 days ago.  She is showing no signs of going into labor anytime soon either.  So why the time off - She’s scheduled to be induced on Friday morning.  So we need a little bit of time between now and Friday morning to make sure we get everything taken care of and ready.  I’ll be back next week.  I may even post some pictures of the little guy.

Where is the Dean scream when you need it?

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

That’s what I feel like doing right now.  Why?  Way too much insanity going on today.

Here’s the latest - a story about a Republican who plans on blocking a proposal to allow beer sales in grocery stores.

Are you kidding me?  How many nannies do we need running our lives?  For God’s sake, if a teenager really wants beer, he/she will probably just raid mom and dad’s refrigerator.  Besides what about all the surrounding states that have enough faith in their residents to allow the sale of beer and wine in grocery stores?

Another good example of why I re-registered as an Independent - too many Republicans who are just arrogant and don’t believe you or I can take care of ourselves.

Also a good reason why I cannot find many incumbents to support - at most levels of government - in most places of the country.  There are a few here and there, but a rare find.
