I was on target for the Cumberland County GOP Commissioners’ race - Eichelberger and Barclay win big - Not quite 20 points as I predicted in terms of raw numbers, 14 points for Eichelberger over Gunnison. What is really impressive is that Eichelberger beat both endorsed candidates. Barclay was right behind him beating Gunnison by 12 points.
I haven’t really followed the other results, so I’ll have to comment on them after I’ve gotten some sleep.
The result for the Cumberland county race has a few meanings - first Stabile is done. Second, those state reps who endorsed Gunnison have some kissing up to do - in a big way. One Rep in particular took a swipe at me early on in the campaign saying that since I was a part of the Eichelberger campaign Gary was sure to lose - we see how that worked out.
There are other repercussions, but they will have to wait until tomorrow.

Once again the leadership of the Cumberland County GOP shows how far it is out of touch. Four years ago a last minute rule change orchestrated by the “String Puller” allowed a primary favoring those candidates with access to a large war chests, hmmm, who could that have been? Eichelberger showed that the proper message properly delivered did not require large amounts of money. Two years later at Jubilee Day the GOP leadership allowed a sign promoting the Democratic DJ candidate. Mr. Stabile did allow he does not involve himself in local races. This year the Gunnison debacle. The really sad part is the sheep that follow the party should be worried. For example, Mayor Ritter of Mechanicsburg spent a lot of energy before and during election day to help the “Stay at home lawyer.” Hopefully this becomes meaningful to the rank and file and they turn out Stabile and turn out the back room politics of the “String Puller”
