Waste
I’m turning my target back to state government. A story ran in the Trib on PSAs, which are nothing more than public paid campaign expenditures. I’m not sure where I read it, but I agree that Reps shouldn’t be doing this to advertise for executive branch functions and programs.
Here’s the paragraph that caught my attention:
Stephen Miskin, a spokesman for House Republicans, denies any abuse. He said the ads inform people of new or little-used state programs, and lawmakers’ offices are swamped with calls from constituents seeking help after they run.
My question is, if there are little-used state programs, why is the state running these programs at all - shouldn’t they get rid of them, instead of encouraging more people to use them? But then again, what do I know, I’m just some ignorant kid, right?
