Speaker O’Brien
I for one am thrilled that Denny O’Brien is the new Speaker of the House - Why? Very simply this - he’s not DeWeese or Perzel, and he signaled that he would move reform legislation through the House. What more could you ask for from the most screwed up legislature in the nation? My sincere thanks go out to all members who voted for O’Brien.
BTW, this means that one of my predictions has already come true. I predicted that Perzel would no longer be Speaker.

I’d be thrilled if I could put faith behind Denny O’Brien as any kind of leader for the reform movement. Unfortunately, the fact that he is a Republican nominated by DeWeese sours any chance of him being a breath of fresh air. My guess is his reform will start and end in today’s speech - more effort to reach out in a bipartisan fashion, which coincidentally happens to cater to the Democrats who put him in this position. Call me wrong, call me cynical, but I see this as a case of the Haves introducing a new member to the circle.
